Bardo / Blossoming Dreams

But bardo has another side.
Even within anxiety, things continue to bloom.

While television speaks of death, the first leaves appear in the courtyards. Summer light falls on concrete walls. Old cars become almost sacred objects. Lilacs erupt in acid colour. At night, streetlights illuminate empty playgrounds as though they were sets for a film about a world after humanity.

The colour part of Bardo is the state of a psyche trying to survive through hypersensitivity to the world. When reality becomes unbearable, consciousness begins to cling to grass, a sunset, wet asphalt, a reflection in a window, a strange shade of sky above the apartment blocks. The world suddenly becomes too bright, as though matter itself were trying to prove that life goes on.

These photographs exist between document and hallucination. Colour here is not about joy, but heightened perception. About a person living within a prolonged wait who begins to see their surroundings as a dream filled with signs. Lilac trees, a green sky, unnatural shadows and acid reflections transform residential districts into a space of inner mythology.

This is no longer merely a city. It is the territory of consciousness’s afterglow.

In the Tibetan tradition, bardo is a space where the mind confronts its own projections. The colour dreams of this series work in precisely this way: the world becomes a mirror of a mental state. Everyday life begins to pulse like unstable film. Simple things acquire a strange spiritual density. A car in a courtyard, an empty kiosk, evening light in a window—everything looks like a symbol whose meaning can never be fully deciphered.

War is not directly depicted in these images. Yet it is present as a change in the way we see. As a new sensitivity to the world’s fragility. As the understanding that any peaceful scene may prove temporary.

Bardo / Blossoming Dreams is a series about trying to preserve the ability to see beauty during a time of historical disintegration. About blossoming as a form of resistance to disappearance. About light that continues to exist even within a collective twilight dream.
