Bardo Sound Travellers

Bardo Sound Travellers — is an audio-visual project by Roman Hodirev (participant in musical projects: KOAN project, AGNI, NAGUALъ), which combines spiritual traditions and contemporary art. Immersion in the world of sound and visuals begins with a didgeridoo and images created in the Om Optical Art style. Each performance is pure improvisation, a sound journey where music is born here and now.

Inspired by the Fluxus movement, Khodyrev creates an audiovisual experience that goes beyond the ordinary. His Biomechanical Noise Machine combines electronic experiments and ethnic harmonics, turning each performance into a meditative act. This is not just a concert, but a living art, where each sound is unique and unrepeatable.

The mixture of geometry and color, the manipulation of lines and patterns create a breathtaking atmosphere. This is a journey into a world where music and visuals become one, opening up new horizons for perception. Bardo Sound Travellers is Fluxus in action, art here and now.

In this human-machine sound installation, Roman orchestrates a symphony of spontaneity, combining unpredictable harmonies of chance encounters and improvisation. The result is an ever-changing soundscape that challenges traditional sound composition. Each sound is born anew, never repeating itself, creating an immersive experience that is both mesmerizing and thought-provoking.

In this project, the artist dissolves the differences between musician, instrument and audience, creating a collective, experiential journey that redefines the very knowledge of sound, creativity, space…

Bardo Sound Travellers — Rzhevka 74

Аудиозапись “Rzhevka 74” — an experimental sound composition created within the framework of the drift with the NOTA BKC in the BETWEEN space. It consists of 74 tracks, united into a complete work, which explores temporality, space and sound as a means of experiencing reality. The recording includes sounds of the surrounding world (rustles, wind, city noises) and elements of playing the ocarina and staff, which give it a ritual and performative structure.

The work is an experience of interaction with a sound environment, where random noises and conscious actions equally shape the acoustic landscape. The approach to sound is reminiscent of John Cage’s ideas, emphasizing the importance of listening and the inclusion of chance as an artistic method.

The concept of drift and recording as an experience

“Rzhevka 74” is a sound intervention exploring space through listening and transformation. Drifting in “BETWEEN” becomes a metaphor for transition and the search for a connection between man and the surrounding world. Here, sound becomes a tool for creating a new reality.

Symbolism and structure

  • The ocarina and the staff act as symbols of ritual living of space, emphasizing the idea of interaction between man and the sound environment.
  • 74 tracks illustrate the multi-layered perception and temporality, where each sound captures a moment, and their combination creates a new, holistic acoustic story.
  • The space “BETWEEN” and its sounds invite viewers to feel the boundary between the external and internal worlds.

Place in the installation

Within the installation, the recording transports the viewer into an acoustic drift, creating for them a similar experience of interaction with space and sound. It becomes a tool that allows one to live the moment here and now, combining chance and meaning.

***

“Rzhevka 74” is a sound study that immerses one in the atmosphere of space through playing, listening and documenting. This is a work about fragility, temporality and the art of hearing the world, where every sound turns into a significant element of history.
